Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo is endorsing Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis for Hudson County sheriff, making him the third top county law enforcement officer in New Jersey to do so.

“As Sheriff of a county with both urban and suburban communities, I understand the importance of having leaders with real experience who can build trust, manage public safety operations effectively, and support first responders,” Adamo said in a statement.
“Mayor James Davis has served honorably in uniform and as mayor of Bayonne. His record reflects a commitment to public service and public safety, and I’m proud to support him for Hudson County Sheriff.”
Both Adamo and Davis, who has the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), are also supporting U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11) for governor, which Adamo noted was another reason he respected Davis.
He follows Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo and Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones, the son of New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chair Leroy Jones, in favoring Davis to unseat incumbent Frank Schillari in the June 10th primary, both as HCV first reported.
“Sheriff Adamo understands what it means to serve with integrity and to lead during challenging times,” noted the Peninsula City mayor.
“I’m honored to have his endorsement, and I look forward to working with him and other law enforcement leaders to strengthen community safety across our region.”
Schillari is seeking a sixth term as part of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate.
