In an editorial, Knitty Gritty JC member Gerald Miller articulates his point of view on why Jack Ciattarelli as governor would be a disaster for Hudson County.
Hudson County is particularly vulnerable to abuses of power. Nearly half of all of our residents were born outside the United States, totaling about 300,000 persons. About 20 percent of Hudson County residents are not United States citizens.
Jack Ciattarelli, running for governor, has made his position clear.
On his own website. he promises to repeal the Immigrant Trust Directive which is designed to strengthen trust between New Jersey’s law enforcement officers and the state’s diverse immigrant communities.
The directive ensures that immigrants who are victims or witnesses can report crimes to law enforcement without fear that they will be turned over to ICE.
Unchecked ICE agents have become a masked secret police force engaged in racial profiling. Human rights and the rule of law are trampled.
ICE agents have been assaulting and kidnaping people, accusing them of trumped-up crimes, holding them without access to legal representation and their families. ICE is failing to give proper medical care or food to those arrested.
As Justice Sotomayor has stated: ”We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job.”
Ciattarelli’s plan would support and encourage outrageous conduct by ICE agents in Hudson County. We can’t afford it. We can’t let fear and division destroy our community.
This November, Jersey City must send a clear message: We reject Jack Ciattarelli. We stand with our neighbors. We vote for Mikie Sherrill for governor.

No more anti-American action in defense of criminals. New Jersey should not harbor criminals who have committed serious crimes. Unfathomable hatred of the citizens in Hudson is shameful.
No legal immigrants or US citizens are in danger. Hire and pay them a fair wage, slavedriver!
Thank you, Gerald Miller! You are absolutely right. We do not need a governor who will advance lawless and inhumane policies in New Jersey that are carried out by masked and unidentifiable agents abducting innocent people including US citizens.

Enough with nonsense like this letter. The Democrats swamped this country with 10 million illegals the last 4 years, destabilizing the whole country. And they did it only for political purposes. The Democrats are not just stupid, they are treasonous.
