Dear Editor,

For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Alex Hamilton on our condo board at Hamilton Park Condos (yes, the coincidence is uncanny!), a role that’s often overlooked but one that demands dedication, diplomacy, and real problem-solving.

In those years, I’ve watched him not only rise to every challenge but do so with a level of conviviality, vision, and integrity that is rare in any setting. That’s why I wholeheartedly support his candidacy for the city council.

Condo boards, like cities, are complex ecosystems, especially in an aging building in a historical district of Jersey City. You deal with tight budgets, conflicting interests, big personalities, long-term planning, and immediate crises — often all in one meeting.

Alex has always brought calm, clarity, and a deep sense of responsibility and principle to every issue, whether we were navigating infrastructure repairs, managing community concerns, or balancing financial pressures.

And as board president, an elected position, he didn’t just show up; he led.

What sets him apart is his ability to listen, build consensus, and act decisively without ego. He has treated every voice with respect, from long-time residents to new tenants and renters.

He reads the fine print, asks the right questions, and always follows through. These are not glamorous traits. But they are the qualities that make effective leaders, and they are exactly what our city needs.

City councils need people who understand how policy decisions impact people at the ground level. Alex Hamilton has lived that firsthand.

He’s been in the trenches, making hard calls for the good of the people he represents. I have no doubt he will bring that same thoughtfulness, dedication, and collaborative spirit to city government.

I’m proud to have worked with him and even prouder to support him now.

Alec Troxell
Jersey City resident of Jersey City’s Ward E
