The September 2nd giveaway will begin at 5 p.m. and will continue as long as supplies last at the field, located at 201 Central Ave. The backpacks will be reserved for children between the ages of 5 and 12.
“This is an incredible opportunity to support our community and ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed in school,” Joe Napolitano, a key organizer of the event, said in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to see so many local leaders and organizations coming together to make this possible.”
Additionally, the giveaway will include music by DJ Macho, as well as magic by Josh Pele and face painting from M’s Paint Bar.
Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, state Senator Raj Mukherji (D-32), County Board of Commissioners Chair Anthony Romano (D-5), and County Commissioner Yraida Aponte-Lipski will also be participating in the event.
