“After much thought and continued conversations with members of our community, I am proud to announce my candidacy for a third term as Mayor, alongside our dedicated Town Council,” Zitt said in a statement.

“Together, we’ve made meaningful progress over the past two terms—improving local services, investing in infrastructure, and strengthening our neighborhoods. With your support, we’re ready to keep that momentum going and continue working hard for the future of our town.”

The four-person “Team Guttenberg” slate submitted about 1,000 signatures a piece, four times above the required threshold to make the primary ballot, which is 250 certified petitions of nomination.

Late last year, it appeared that Delafuente, the town’s office of emergency management coordinator, would not seek re-election and Guttenberg Housing Authority Executive Director Ruddys Andrade would take his place on the slate.

However, that never ended up coming to fruition an Delafuente will be seeking a third term with the incumbent team.

Zitt and his team are running on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s ticket as part of his pursuit for governor.

That slate also includes Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari, who is seeking a sixth term against Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, who is backed by the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO).
