A 46-year-old Hudson County employee has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old juvenile he met on Snapchat two years ago, Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Tejas Patel, 46, of Woodbridge, is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Mello said in a statement.
He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
The crimes occurred in Jersey City on various dates in 2024 when the victim was 15 years old and Tejas allegedly met the juvenile victim through the social media platform Snapchat.
He is employed with the Hudson County Department of Family Services and he was arrested nearly nine years ago for having child pornography on his work computer in Fairfield, as HCV first reported. He was a North Bergen resident at the time.
