Hudson County Commissioner Anthony Romano (D-5) has endorsed Team Bhalla in the non-partisan Hoboken municipal elections, citing the incumbents COVID-19 pandemic response.

“During these unprecedented times in Hoboken and across our country, we need leaders that aren’t afraid to make difficult decisions, doing the right thing for our residents,“ Romano, whose district includes Hoboken and part of the Jersey City Heights, said in a statement.
“In Hoboken, Mayor Ravi Bhalla has been that leader for our community, and I’m incredibly proud to support his re-election, along with his entire City Council team: Council members Emily Jabbour, Jim Doyle and first time candidate Joe Quintero.”
Romano was one of six mayoral challengers in 2017 after incumbent Dawn Zimmer announced she would not seek a third term and endorsed Bhalla, who is running unopposed this time around.
He was re-elected to his county commissioner seat, then still referred to as a freeholder, last year.
Team Bhalla has already received support from 5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen, while Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher and Jen Giattino have come out in favor of the “Independently Together” slate.
The Hoboken municipal elections, where 10 council-at-large candidates are seeking three seats, are on November 2nd.
