The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the killing of a 56-year-old man who was found in Greenville yesterday morning.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. yesterday, the Jersey City PD was notified of an injured person in the area of Neptune and Garfield Avenues, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Responding officers located an unresponsive man outside on Neptune Avenue. The injured man – later identified as Joey Richburg, 56, of Jersey City – was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:42 a.m.
The fatality is the ninth homicide recorded in Jersey City in 2025.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this matter and no arrests have been made at this time.
