State Senator Brian Stack (D-33), McGreevey’s earliest and most ardent supporter, also the Union City mayor, gave $5,000 out of his Senate account, the same amount given by Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, also the chair of the Hudson Democrats.

Guy endorsed McGreevey for Jersey City mayor less than two weeks after he declared his candidacy.

West New York Mayor Albio Sires gave $5,000 from both his congressional account and his team account from last year ($10,000 total). A Stack-linked nonprofit, Union City First, chipped in an additional $15,000.

Charles Kushner, the Kushner Companies founder who received a $508,900 fine from the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) for giving improper campaign contributions to Democrats including McGreevey in 2004, gave $5,200 towards his comeback bid in June.

His wife, Seryl Kushner, wrote a check for the same amount.

The Heavy and General Construction Laborers Union Local 472 PAC gave a total of $7,700, while Ralph Lamparello, a managing partner of high-power Secaucus law firm Chasan Lamparello Mallon & Cappuzzo, PC, wrote a check for $4,000.

Former West New York Mayor Felix Roque got involved at $2,600, with state Senator Joe Lagana (D-38) came in at $2,500.

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 after he was caught patronizing a prostitution ring, gave the same amount. Spitzer is now a developer with a 26-story project in Journal Square.

The vast majority of his donations are from outside of Jersey City, with several donors from New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

While McGreevey, now the chair of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation, did not spend as much as he has previously, he still had $176,303.49 account his in expenditures, according to his ELEC report filed on Tuesday.

He shelled out quite a hefty amount on consultants, including $35,000 on Chicago-based Authentic Campaigns, $18,700 on Fonseca Consulting, $15,000 on Brooklyn-based, Electrico Enterprises LLC, and $8,000 on Jersey City-based JEM JC Consulting LLC.

However, by far his largest expense was for West New York-based Royal Printing, paying them $65,599.98 direct mail (printing and postage).

Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), who declared his candidacy for mayor shortly after McGreevey did in November, announced through his campaign that he raised $200,000 and had $800,000 cash on hand earlier this month, as HCV first reported.

His ELEC reports filed filed yesterday indicate he raised exactly $209,900, with $427,809.22 cash on hand in his mayoral account and $382,225.85 cash on hand in his commissioner account.

Former Board of Education President Mussab Ali raised $213,329.97, with $203,435.41 cash on hand, while Council President Joyce Watterman raising $14,800 between April 1st and June 30th, with $101,989.43 cash on hand.

The non-partisan November 4th, 2025 Jersey City mayoral race currently consists of those four aforementioned comments, with Ward E Councilman James Solomon also widely viewed as a contender if he decides to enter the fray.
