After a big second quarter where the mayor raised $87,994 and had $191,279.91 COH, Bhalla raised just $10,504 in quarter 3, according to his October 7th report filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Given that he’s running unopposed, the incumbent had little incentive to fundraise for himself and had enough on reserve to comfortably spend $44,104.75, the filing shows, leaving him with $157,379.16 at his disposal.

He donated $20,000 to his council slate, which consists of Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour, Councilman-at-Large Jim Doyle, and first time candidate Joe Quintero on September 20th.

Jabbour also put an additional $5,000 from her personal account on the same day. She also received a $313 donation from 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo on September 28th.

Their filing from the same day indicates $14,067.55 COH. It also shows that Vijay Chaudhuri, their campaign manager, was paid $10,000 the following day.

Their only slate challenge, the IT team of Cheryl Fallick, Sheila Brennan, and Paul Presinzano, raised $22,347.27 in the third quarter and only spent $1,1790.19, their October 4th ELEC report says.

The team has done some self-financing to date, with Brennan chipping in $6,000, and Fallick contributing $4,000. Presinzano also contributed $8,000 to the team account from his personal campaign account.

Independent candidate, Play! Hoboken owner Ian Rintel, loaned himself $25,000 on September 18th and has spent $5,174.80 so far, based on his October 8th ELEC filing.

Another independent candidate, Cindy Wiegand, has loaned herself $1,000 and only gone through $109.52 in expenditures so far, according to her October 4th report.

Manny Solar Rivera, who is also running on his own, filed an A-1 report with ELEC on September 27th, indicating that he would not spend more than $5,800 in this election cycle.

He has not filed anything since then, while Pat Waiters, who is also running for school board, has not filed any paperwork for the 2021 election cycle, ELEC’s online database shows.

The non-partisan Hoboken municipal elections where three council-at-large seats are up for grabs are on November 2nd and today is the last day to register to vote.
