Chelsea Clinton criticizes Trump’s ‘almost normalization of hate speech’

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton, said it’s time to put a stop to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s “almost normalization of hate speech” during a campaign stop in North Bergen this afternoon.

Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32) kicked off the event by stating that Hillary Clinton, a former U.S. Secretary of State, “will be ready on Day 1” and has the values necessary to lead our country – unlike Trump.

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) then fired up the crowd before introducing his colleague, friend and “mentor:” U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).

Menendez said that he expects New Jersey to put Clinton over the top to officially become the Democratic presidential nominee, noting that her experience speaks for itself and, as he’s done in the past, put Trump on blast.

Chelsea Clinton, who is expecting her second child later this year, took the stage to proclaim “this is the most important presidential election of my lifetime” and admitted an expected personal bias towards her mother – whom she referred to as her “role model.”

She also predictably went on the offensive against Trump, criticizing his “almost normalization of hate speech.”

“I never thought I would see, in my lifetime, the almost normalization of hate speech here, from Mr. Trump, and coming out of the Republican primary,” Clinton said at 6121 Grand Ave., one of the North Bergen Housing Authority buildings, today.

“That place of prejudice, to build a wall around our country. To kick out 11 million people that were here and working hard for lives and dignity and opportunity for themselves and their children. To keep a list based on religion of Americans. To now allow people to come into our country because of religion.”

Clinton also made reference to Trump’s recent remarks about U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who the business tycoon said was incapable of ruling in a Trump University fraud case due to his “Mexican heritage” (h/t CNN).

She also touted some of Hillary’s accomplishments, such as Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY).

When asked what advice she would tell her mother to give supporters of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders after the primaries are over, she drew a parallel to Hillary’s presidential run in 2008.

The Hudson County Democratic Organization endorsed Hillary in April, while U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8) followed suit about six weeks later.

Others in attendance including state Senator/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco (D-32), Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, West New York Commissioner Cosmo Cirillo, North Bergen Commissioners Julio Marenco, Allen Pascual and Hugo Cabrera – among many others.
