4 NJ Transit officers talk down individual in Hoboken who was going to jump into river

Four New Jersey Transit police officers are credited for talking down an individual in Hoboken who was going to jump into the river recently, authorities said.

“Recently, New Jersey Transit Police Officers in District 3 responded to reports of a suicidal person at Hoboken Terminal. The individual had crossed over a safety railing to access the water below. Upon locating the subject, the officers coordinated their actions,” the department wrote on social media.

“They carefully crossed over the railing, encouraged dialogue, and used physical restraint to prevent the party from jumping into the water. With the help of Hoboken FD, they assisted the subject back over the railing to safety and medical attention.⁣”

The four officers who responded to the incident are Sgt. Dennis Dulmer, along with Police Officers Christopher Graybill, Tara Soscia, and Fernando Candia.⁣
