The Town of West New York has received a $758,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation to repave the intersection at Broadway and 62nd Street.

“I am pleased to inform you that West New York has been selected to receive funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s (NJDOT) Municipal Aid Program for the Broadway & 62nd St. project in the amount of $757,980,” NJDOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti wrote in a March 25th letter to Mayor Felix Roque.
She added that the program is very competitive, with 681 applications requesting more than $377.9 million in funding.
Roque thanked Gov. Phil Murphy (D) and the NJDOT for their commitment to West New York, with Department of Public Works Commissioner Susan Colacurcio adding that this is another example of her running mate coming through in the clutch.
“This is just another example of how hard Mayor Roque works for West New York. I am proud to be running for reelection as part of Mayor Roque’s team. It is no accident that our campaign slogan is FORWARD WITH ROQUE,” she said in a statement.
This latest announcement appears to be an ongoing trend of positive news in the past few days, with the board of commissioners approving the purchase of four new police vehicles last week and the rec division spending about $25,000 on youth baseball equipment.
