West New York police promote 2 new lieutenants, 2 new sergeants

The West New York Police Department promoted four new officers last night: with two officers earning the distinction of lieutenant, and two more getting recognized as sergeant.

Marcos Garciga and Ray Hernandez were awarded their lieutenant badges before officers Jorge Ramos and Carlos Mateos got their formal promotions to sergeant.

Mayor Felix Roque, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, led the promotion ceremonies.

The court chambers on the second floor of Town Hall were as packed as they’ve ever been as residents, friends and family showed up to support the department.

In closing, Captain Santiago Cabrera gave a brief speech that ended with a quote from John C. Maxwell:

“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them to their best ability.”

Police Director Robert Antolos told Hudson County View that the four promoted officers had “an unbelievable work ethic” and added that “today’s a good day for the West New York Police Department.”
