A graduate of Hofstra University and former member of the West New York planning board (an unpaid position), Joseph Roque, 25, was hired by the Hudson County Department of Roads and Public Property under Director Harold “Buddy” Demellier, multiple sources confirmed with Hudson County View this week.

Joe Roque was at the center of his father’s federal hacking trial in 2013 – with the U.S. Attorney’s Office alleging that the mayor and his son calculated how to hack Recallroque.com – and Felix Roque was acquitted of all charges.

However, Joe Roque was convicted of computer hacking, a misdemeanor offense.

U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty sentenced Joe Roque to one year of probation, 100 hours of community service and a $2,500 fine for the hacking offense (h/t Cliffview Pilot).

No one could clarify with 100 percent certainty what Joe Roque’s job title, responsibilities or salary will be with the new position within the county.

Meanwhile, Felix Roque is embroiled in another legal battle, as the state Attorney General’s Office indicted him on charges of allegedly accepting $250,000 in a bribery/kickback scheme last month.

He pleaded not guilty in Bergen County Superior Court on Monday.

A county spokesman did not return calls or voicemails seeking comment.
