The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 10 allegedly drunk drivers, netting 54 arrests overall, from their participation in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.Â

Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari announced the arrests minutes ago, providing a breakdown of the charges:
DWI – 10
Drug Arrest – 6
Careless Driving – 31
Cell Phone Use – 9
Reckless Driving – 6
Seatbelt – 9
No Child Restraint – 6
Suspended Driver – 32
Unregistered Vehicle – 11
Impounded Vehicles – 30
“I am proud of our officers for their hard work and dedication to making our roadways safer,” Schillari said in  statement.
“Substance-impaired driving is more than a reckless choice by a few individuals. Each year, substance-impaired driving claims the lives of thousands on America’s streets and highways. If you choose to drive impaired, you will get caught.â€
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is a national campaign designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high-visibility enforcement and public education tools including posters, banners and mobile video display signs.
The campaign was founded in 1999 and is launched on Labor Day Weekend because of the high number of DWI Arrests and DWI related motor vehicle crashes traditional seen during that time period.
