Prosecutor: North Bergen man, 34, charged with December fatal shooting

A 34-year-old North Bergen man has been charged with a fatal shooting that occurred in the township last month, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Henry Delgado, 34, of North Bergen, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess a weapon, disturbing/desecrating human remains, and hindering, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested at a residence in Union City and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9th, 2024, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of an unresponsive man inside a second floor residence at 9028 Palisade Plaza.

Responding officers located the lifeless body of a man, later identified as Juan Moyet, 48, of North Bergen. He was pronounced dead at the scene just after 3:50 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded and determined the victim suffered an apparent head injury.

On Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, a post-mortem exam was conducted that determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and the manner to be homicide.

Suarez credited the arrest to the Homicide Unit, with assistance by the Gang Task Force, Hudson County Regional SWAT, the Union City Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
