“I am looking forward to working with the school board members and educators of the Hudson County Schools of Technology. I’m grateful to all those who supported this nomination,” Parkinson told HCV this afternoon.

“My record of experience on the West New York Board of Education and Hudson County School Boards Association was one that I was proud of. School board members volunteer countless hours, but the work that we do is worth it because it’s all for the benefit of children.”

Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, also the chair of the county Democrats, nominated Parkinson for Thursday’s Hudson County Board of Commissioners meeting.

Commissioner Caridad Rodriguez (D-7) made the motion supporting his nomination, which was seconded by Commissioner Fanny Cedeno (D-6) and his appointment was approved unanimously (9-0).

The former longtime West New York Board of Education president takes over for Vogt, who is Guy’s former deputy chief of staff and the prior executive director for the Hudson County Democratic Organization, as HCV first reported last week.

She only served about six months of her nearly three-year term on the HCST board (it runs through October 31st, 2027) and Guy announced on Thursday, just a couple hours prior to the county commissioners meeting, that Storm Wyche is the new HCDO executive director.

Guy has not said whether or not he plans to interview for a new deputy chief of staff.
