LETTER: LD-31 Assembly-elect McKnight reacts to recent Jersey City murders

In a letter to the editor, District 31 Assembly-elect Angela McKnight reacts to the recent “heinous acts of violence in Jersey City” that includes three fatal shootings in the past six days.

It is unfortunate we’ve experienced such heinous acts of violence in Jersey City. I do give my sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues to come up with a solution to this devastating problem.

I will be contacting my colleagues Nicholas Chiaravalloti, Assemblymen Charles Mainor and Jason O’Donnell and Senator Sandra Bolden Cunningham to strategize on ways to combat this violence on a state level.

I will also be requesting a meeting with Mayor Fulop, Public Safety Director Shea and other local elected officials to do the same at the municipal and county level.

I am also committed to sitting down with the community to hear your concerns and ideas for creating a safer environment for us all.

When I am sworn in on January 12, 2016, to serve the good people of the 31st District, I will have even more tools to better serve the community.

May God bless the 31st District and the state of the New Jersey!

Yours in service,

Angela V. McKnight
