Crews have successfully completed emergency repairs on the 36-inch main near 18th Street and Jersey Avenue in Jersey City, adjacent to the Hoboken border, Veolia said in a statement.

The water service provided added that they are working to effectively restore water pressure to impacted customers in both service areas, noting that larger building may take longer to restore water pressure.

If residents encounter discolored water, which is common under the circumstances due to sediment in the mains, flush cold water taps until the water runs clear.

“Once pressure is restored within the system, samples will be immediately collected and sent for lab testing,” Veolia added.

“The boil water advisory can only be lifted with approval from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and will take a minimum of 24 hours after test results are received.”

As for Jersey City, there is still no boil water advisory, while pressure and discoloration advisories remain until system is stabilized.
