Jersey City Council-at-Large candidate Kristen Zadroga-Hart, a part of Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) slate, is again attacking mayoral hopeful Jim McGreevey over his donations from Charles Kushner.

“If Jim McGreevey thinks he can hide from this critical issue and not address the deep concerns that many Jersey City residents have about his close relationship with Trump mega donor Charles Kushner, then he truly knows nothing about our community and its values,” Zadroga-Hart said in a statement.
“McGreevey needs to step up and return this tainted money, and if he refuses then it will be clear to every Jersey City resident that he has no problem associating himself with a convicted felon, serial sexual abuser and threat to our democracy in Donald Trump.”
She added that Team O’Dea is working hard to solve problems for Jersey City residents, as well as to help Vice President Kamala Harris get elected as the first female President of the United States.
This topic is not new for Zadroga-Hart, who called McGreevey out in a letter to the editor last week over accepting a $4,900 donation from Kushner, who recently co-hosted a $250,000 per plate fundraiser for the Trump campaign at the Jersey Shore.
Today, she lamented that Kushner was McGreevey’s largest single donor in his 2001 campaign for governor and was nominated by then-Gov.McGreevey for a seat on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Soon after that, however, Kushner was under investigation by federal authorities for a host of crimes. In 2005, he convicted of directing illegal campaign contributions to a Democratic candidates including McGreevey.
Kushner served time in federal prison but was later pardoned by Trump in the last days of his administration in 2020, after Kushner’s son and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, had served as a senior advisor in the White House.
While the bad blood between Team O’Dea and McGreevey is already on full display, the non-partisan Jersey City mayoral race isn’t until November 4th, 2025.
Council President Joyce Watterman and former Board of Education President Mussab Ali are also declared candidates, with Ward E Councilman James Solomon expected to join them in the neat future.
