“Every year, the police department and the community come together, to make the holidays even better and brighter for many Hoboken families,” Police Chief Steven Aguiar said in a statement.

“I’m grateful to everyone who puts the time, energy, and heart into organizing this event each year, reminding us how generous Hoboken can be.”

The collection will benefit hundreds of local children and teens at the annual Hoboken Housing Authority and Familyhood’s Winter Wonderland, scheduled for Saturday, December 13th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to drop off unwrapped new toys, books, games, sports equipment, and other gifts for children and teens, at Hoboken Police Headquarters, 106 Hudson St., through Dec. 12.

HPD will also be hosting an all-day donation drive outside of headquarters, on Dec. 10, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hoboken Police Department’s annual toy drive was renamed for Zanin, after he passed away five years ago,  Novemeber 21st, 2020.

A father of three and a 20-year HPD veteran, Zanin was involved in many events and initiatives that gave back to the community, including the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.
