Hoboken Board of Education trustee Peter Biancamano officially launched his Ward 2 Council campaign at a fundraiser at Lola’s Tapas Bar on Thursday evening.

Inside the basement of Lola’s on Thursday night, Hoboken Freeholder Anthony Romano (D-5) stressed that “every vote is important†and “this is a war,†further stating in Spanish everyone needs to help fundraise and knock on doors.
He also touted Biancamano’s track record before the candidate addressed his supporters.
Biancamano added that leaving the school board was “the toughest decision I had to make†when considering a Ward 2 Council run, but reiterated that he feels the school district is stable now.
He also said that he had no ill will towards opponent Brian Murray, a former unsuccessful BOE candidate and the husband of Bonnie Murray (one of his opponents for November 3) – even though Brian Murray called for his resignation at this month’s BOE meeting.
Finally, Biancamano expressed an interest in completing the construction of Legion Park, located near the intersection of 12th and Willow Streets, and finding a resolution to the controversial Monarch project.
Biancamano’s campaign will be run by Pablo Fonseca, a veteran political operative who recently resigned as West New York spokesman.
The Ward 2 Council race is a three-way dance this time around, as Biancamano and Murray will also be challenged by the Mayor Dawn Zimmer-endorsed Tiffanie Fisher – a member of the city’s zoning board.
Incumbent Beth Mason announced late last month that she would not be seeking re-election.
1st Ward Councilwoman Terry Castellano, 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo, Elysian Charter School Board President Eduardo Gonzalez and Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia (D-33) were a few of the officials spotted at the event.
