Hoboken 6th Ward Councilwoman Jen Giattino had over 100 supporters attend her campaign kickoff at Moran’s Pub last night as she seeks her fourth term in office in the non-partisan November 7th contest.

“Your vote and support matter more now than ever. I need your help to stay in this fight. I’m here to listen, learn and lead always with your input guiding my decisions and votes. If there’s something specific you’d like to talk about, please reach out to me,” she said during the tail end of her speech.
“Thank you for your trust and support, together we can continue to write the story of Hoboken’s success. Chapter by chapter, term by term, let’s make it happen.”
The councilwoman’s remarks also mentioned upgrading all the playgrounds in her ward, securing funding from Hudson County to fund the turf in dog runs; spearheading the charge for composting in the city of Hoboken, moving Hoboken’s Farmers Market from downtown to Church Square Park in order to make it more accessible, as well as helping residents apply for Medicaid and housing.
Giattino also mentioned helping a resident at risk of being evicted learn about her rights as a tenant, which ultimately led to her owning her own home.
She also worked with the residents of Church Towers when their buildings were coming off a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) program, she lobbied for and secured 11 additional stop signs and more road repaving’s than any other ward.
She also mentioned organizing weekly hot meals for Hoboken Community Center during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping make the relationship with Stevens and the city more of a collaborative partnerships, and working with Veolia and PSE&G.
Giattino, the second longest serving member on the council behind 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo, officially declared her candidacy last month in a brief phone interview with HCV.
She faces challengers in commercial litigation attorney Lauren Myers, who is running with the backing of Mayor Ravi Bhalla, and Play! Hoboken owner Ian Rintel.
