“Hi I’m Correctional Police Officer Tasha Salters and I’m starting this fundraiser to assist my Brother in Blue, Correctional Police Officer Jerry Papo Bonilla, that was severely beaten while on duty this past weekend,” the GoFundMe page description.

“Officer Bonilla has a wife and two small children that would appreciate your assistance. Thank you[.]”

They have set a fundraising goal of $10,000 and had already reached $4,385 as of 2:40 p.m. this afternoon.

Over the weekend, an inmate, Kelvin Jamison, was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer after assaulting a corrections officer, taking his radio and keys, and then opening jail cells, The Jersey Journal reported.
