Seven first responders were injured and 25 people were displaced by a three-alarm Jersey City fire at two adjoining residential buildings on Bergen Avenue.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. yesterday, the Jersey City Fire Department responded to a call for a working fire at 662 and 664 Bergen Ave.

While working to extinguish the fire, seven first responders, both police officers and firefighters, suffered mostly heat-related injuries, according to city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

They were all released from the hospital, except for one first responder who suffered burns and has been taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston.

A total of 25 civilians have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross and both buildings suffered heavy damage.
