“My run for Ward D Council is based on the fact that our city has become one of high taxes and low services. Our offices are understaffed, our rec facilities are subpar, and we lack the public transportation we need to move forward,” Ambrossi said in a statement.

“I’ve fought to improve our open spaces, been an ally on street safety, and a staunch advocate for our seniors – and I’m not afraid to fight for people at City Hall. An Ambrossi Ward D means revitalized commercial corridors, a city-run bus line, real housing solutions, and common sense street safety. I’m proud to join Mussab on this journey. He leads with purpose and integrity; something Jersey City sorely needs in this moment. We don’t need redemption stories or performative leadership. We need action.”

Ambrossi is president of the Leonard Gordon Park Conservancy, where he helped secure a long-overdue renovation, and he also sits on the board of the Jersey City Parks Coalition and previously served on the board of the Reservoir Alliance.

He declared he would be running again as an independent in August, his second shot at the Heights council seat after losing to Councilman Yousef Saleh handily in a November 2020 special election to succeed the late Michael Yun, who died from COVID-19 complications.

Saleh, who came in fifth place in a six-person June 10th primary for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District, is not expected to seek re-election.

The non-partisan November 4th Ward D race is still a crowded field.

Catherine Healy, the daughter of former Mayor Jerramiah Healy, is running with ex-Gov. Jim McGreevey, Jake Ephros is an independent candidate, Elvin Dominici on Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) slate, and Veronica Akaezuwa a part of Ward E Councilman James Solomon’s team.

Furthermore, Jeff Justice Williams is seeking the Heights council seat with the support of Council President Joyce Watterman.

“Patrick has been doing the work for years, not just talking about it. His leadership in the Heights has already made a lasting impact, and I’m proud to stand alongside him as we work to deliver the city residents deserve,” Ali added.
