The group filed their petitions with the Hudson County Board of Elections on Monday, referring to their ticket as “Our Kids Their Futures. Team 2014.”

Representing the slate are Ana M. Cerqueira, Thomas M. Leung, Henry Song, and Monica Parra. Cerquiera will be seeking a two-year term on the elected school board, while Sung, Leung, and Parra will be running for a three-year term on the board.

“Let us never lose sight of those things that are important to us as parents and residents, for our most important commodity is our children” Betancourt said in a prepared statement.

“The ‘Our Kids Their Futures. Team 2014’ looks to end the political patronage within our school board, and implement policies that truly support our children, parents, and teachers. They look to once again bring West New York schools back to the prominence they had in the past and can be in the near future,” a written statement from the “Our Kids Their Futures. Team 2014” slate reads.

November’s election will decide four new members on the nine-person board, with one two-year term up for grabs, while three three-year seats will be filled as well.

As only Hudson County View has reported, the FBI is probing the WNY board of education over recent contract approvals made by the board.
