A man fled the scene of an accident near the Ronald A. Dario Swimming Complex in Union City after hitting another vehicle and flipping his own car onto its roof on Saturday evening, according to an eyewitness.
An eyewitness, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told Hudson County View that the driver of the silver van that caused the accident and overturned his car, crawled out of his vehicle, and fled before police arrived around 7:15 p.m.
Based on a short video taken by Union City resident Danny Uribe after the accident, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue firefighters were on the scene, approximately 219 47th St., trying to turn the silver van that caused the accident back onto its wheels.
A photograph from the scene shows that the red vehicle hit in the accident sustained serious damage to the bumper.
A ranking officer of the Union City Police Department was not immediately available when Hudson County View called this afternoon, but this story will be updated in the event comment is given.
