The CarePoint board has appointed Dr. Achintya Moulick as their new CEO. Moulick was brought in from Alvarez and Marsal as the Chief Transition Officer to help the CarePoint hospitals during its transition in February of this year.
The hospitals, under the leadership of Moulick, created standardized treatment protocols,
used convalescent plasma therapy, novel drug treatments, nitric oxide treatment for pulmonary artery hypertension, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) modalities, and other advanced therapies to better care for patients impacted by COVID-19.
The hospitals also started a Research Group which has had more than six publications this year, which are under review or have been published, dealing with various aspects of COVID infection and treatment.
“The new challenges that healthcare systems face, requires leaders with significant clinical as well as administrative experience. I have been very impressed by the quality of clinical and administrative leadership in our three hospitals and I look forward to helping the hospitals care for all of our patients,” Moulick said in a statement.
“A major focus of this role will be helping guide the hospitals to new opportunities and allow our System to innovate, ensuring we keep a step ahead of the clinical challenges today and into the future. We will continue providing exceptional care to the communities we serve as well as support patients from other communities and centers seeking specialized care.”
Moulick is an internationally renowned cardiovascular surgeon with an expertise in
congenital, neonatal, pediatric as well and adult acquired heart disease.
He has had extensive experience in program and hospital building as well as creating excellent value in clinical care.
Additionally, Moulick is recognized for his ability to bring innovation and clinical quality in newly established hospitals as well as existing programs.
CarePoint has expressed a preference of bringing on BMC Hospital LLC as their new owners, at least in Bayonne, though Hudson Regional Hospital is making an effort to run all three hospitals.
Last month, they announced that they were bringing over former Jersey City Medical Center CEO Joe Scott to oversee those potential acquisitions.
