West New York PD arrest 5 for drug ring that sold cocaine, Oxycodone, & Xanax


The West New York Police Department arrested five people for a drug ring that sold cocaine, Oxycodone, and Xanax following a four-month investigation.

Alfredo Diaz, 36, of West New York; Fabian Herrera, 33, of North Bergen; Josue Perez, 20, of West New York; Jessica Reyes, 33, of Fairview; and Kenneth Salazar, 49, of Union City were taken into custody without incident during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant on June 14th, officials said today.

The operation was part of an ongoing investigation initiated by West New York Police Detectives after receiving complaints from residents in the area of 61st Street and Tyler Place about the quality of life and alleged narcotics distribution.

“We commend the diligent work of our detectives and officers, as well as the collaboration with the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, in executing these search warrants,” said in a statement Mayor Albio Sires.

“Our commitment to addressing community concerns remains unwavering and we will continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in West New York.”

Diaz is charged with operating a manufacturing facility, possession with the intent to distribute (cocaine), possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with the intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of public property, possession of an imitation firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of cocaine, Xanax, Amphetamine, and Oxycodone, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, Fabian Herrera was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, while Perez, Reyes, and Salazar were arrested on open warrants.

Police Director Alejandro DeRojas credited the West New York Police Detective Bureau, Specialized Response Unit, Patrol Division, and the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team with the investigation and arrests.
