A suspect in the murder of a 19-year-old West New York teenager was arrested in a joint effort between the West New York and Union City Police Departments, as well as the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. West New York murder

Juan Carlos Garcia-Gomez, age 20, of Union City, was charged last night with the July 1st murder of Jose Lazaro Urias-Hernandez, age 19, of West New York.

Lazaro Urias-Hernandez was fatally shot in the back of the head shortly after midnight on Wednesday night.

Garcia-Gomez was located at his Central Avenue home by prosecutor’s detectives and police and was later arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Bail for Garcia-Gomez was set at $750,000, cash only.
