Union City’s Stack and Weehawken’s Turner cruise to re-election in uncontested races

Stack, the mayor since October 2000, ran a full incumbent slate that included Commissioners Lucio Fernandez, Maryury Martinetti, Celin Valdivia, and Wendy Grullon.

He secured over 10,000 votes, securing over 2,000 votes each via vote-by-mail and early voting, which was held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Despite not a single Union City seat being contested, that early voting output nearly tripled the one Bayonne, where the mayoralty and all five council seats are up for grabs.

As for Turner, the mayor since mid-1990, he was re-elected with Council members Carmela Silvestri-Ehret, Rosemary Lavagnino, Robert Sosa, and David Curtis.

He is the longest serving mayor in Hudson County as he prepares to serve his ninth term.

On the state level, Weehawken is represented by Stack, who also serves as the state senator of the 33rd Legislative District.
