‘I’m excited to endorse James Solomon for Mayor of Jersey City! James represents a new generation of leadership. His winning the most number of votes in the general election shows the energy he built going into the run-off on December 2,” Kim wrote on X.

“James is a principled public servant and a dedicated father who I’ve know for years, and I trust him to fight alongside me for transparency, affordability, and opportunity. For too long, politics in New Jersey has been an exclusive club. Now is the time to change that. Vote for @SolomonforJC in the Jersey City runoff election on December 2nd.”

The downtown councilman was the top vote getter on Election Day Tuesday, proving a late October poll by his campaign correct, both as HCV first reported.

He takes on former Gov. Jim McGreevey, who has the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), to determine who succeeds Mayor Steven Fulop next month, who ran for governor instead of seeking a fourth term.

“What an absolute honor to be endorsed by Senator Andy Kim! Senator Kim and I fought against the NJ machine together, and as mayor I will partner with Andy to ensure we have a government that’s ethical and will focus on making life affordable,” Solomon responded.

In March of last year, Solomon, along with Mayor Ravi Bhalla, joined then-Congressman Kim’s lawsuit to end county organizational lines, which were ultimately abolished by the federal courts.

Solomon and Bhalla also hosted a Town Hall for Kim in Jersey City the month prior as his candidacy for Senate began to heat up. Additionally, Kim’s state deputy and political director Laura Bustamante used to be Solomon’s chief of staff.

  1. This is trouble for James Solomon, it it indicates Bill O’Dea’s votes may not be going Solomon’s way. If Bill O’Dea is Irish there may be reason to believe his votes may go to McGreevey…in exchange for………..God only knows.
