Jersey City police officers stationed on a nearby foot post quickly responded to the area of Oak Street and Martin Luther King Drive upon hearing gunshots just after 1 p.m. today, Wallace- Scalcione said.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital, with the first victim already being discharged, and the second victim remaining in stable condition. Additionally, police recovered two guns from the scene.

From there, an off-duty JCPD officer observed the vehicle fleeing the scene and maintained the vehicle’s location until on-duty units arrived. The driver then attempted to flee from the officers, who did not pursue the vehicle, which eventually crashed, according to the city spokeswoman.

The three occupants then fled on foot before being quickly apprehended by the JCPD. Their pending charges and pedigree information were not immediately available.
