Board President Mary Jane Desmond, Vice President Saverio “Sam” Maggio, and Trustee Hector Gonzalez are running with William Young, a running mate who came up short in 2022.

Desmond, also the city’s business administrator, Maggio, and Gonzalez are seeking three-year terms, while Young is seeking a two-year term. That seat is up for grabs after Trustee Jodi Casais resigned last month.

She was re-elected as part of the Together We Can slate with Trustees Pam Sclafane and Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez back in November when they easily staved off a challenge from former Trustee Michael Alonso.

That board vacancy has not been filled yet, though it would stand to reason that Young will merit serious consideration from the board.

Even if he does not receive the appointment, Young will end up serving on the volunteer governing body in the Peninsula City since there are no challengers for the two-year term.

The only challenger for a three-year term is Vivian Ghobrial, a wife and mother of two.
