Three men sentenced for fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jersey City man Markell Albright in 2019

Three men have been sentenced for the fatal shooting of Markell Albright, 19, of Jersey City, back in 2019, ranging from five to 14 years in state prison.

Hudson County Superior Court Judge John Young sentenced Tyshawn Kitchens, 21, of Jersey City, Rashad Terry, 33, of Jersey City, and Corey Walker, 24, of East Orange earlier today.

Kitchens, who pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, was sentenced to 14 years in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to the No Early Release Act.

Terry pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and was sentenced to 10 years in NJSP with no early release, while Walker pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and receive five years in NJSP with no early release.

A fourth defendant, Sidney McCord, 28, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault on December 3, 2021. He is scheduled to be sentenced before Young on Friday, February 11th.

On July 23rd, 2019, at approximately 8:20 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a male shot in the area of 125 and 127 Wilkinson Ave.

Responding officers found an unresponsive man, later identified as Markell Albright, 21, with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the ground.

Albright was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:50 p.m.
