The incident occurred near the intersection of 54th Street and Bergenline Ave on Saturday, November 9th, at 12:18 p.m., according to town spokeswoman Nicole Casal.

The taxi was traveling north on Bergenline Ave and attempted to slow down in traffic, however, she told authorities her brakes did not function correctly, forcing her to swerve to avoid the car in front of her.

As a result, she went into the opposite traffic lane, struck a telephone poll, store front and parking meter, Casal noted.

No pedestrians were injured and the driver was taken to Palisades Medical Center for minor injuries. No charges have been issued and the incident remains under investigation at this time, officials said.
