Secaucus police officers arrested a man with a loaded handgun at Hudson Regional Hospital yesterday morning, Police Chief Dennis Miller announced.

Yesterday at approximately 9:44 a.m., an employee of Hudson Regional Hospital, 55 Meadowlands Parkway, called the Secaucus police to report that a person within the hospital was in possession of a handgun, Miller said in a statement.
Responding Secaucus Police Officers located the man and recovered a fully loaded Springfield Hellcat semi-automatic 9mm handgun that was possessed by Esai J. Baskerville.
Esai J. Baskerville was placed under arrest. He also had an active warrant from Newark with a bail of $5,000 with a 10% option.
“I commend the hospital staff for immediately reporting this incident to the police. Unlawfully possessing firearms is becoming way too common, but I am hopeful our criminal justice system will hold him accountable,” Miller added.
Esai J. Baskerville, 23, of Irvington was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of handgun ammunition, and possession of a handgun in a healthcare facility.
As a result, he was processed and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, authorities said.
