At approximately 11:56 a.m., on Friday, July 5th, Secaucus police responded to Buchmuller Park, located Plaza Centre Rd., on reports of a male within the park committing lewd acts, according to Police Capt. Dennis Miller.

After a park attendant went to approach this male, he fled prior to police arrival. Physical
evidence was recovered from the scene and the male and his vehicle were caught on video
surveillance, authorities said.

An extensive follow up investigation commenced, which led to the identification of this male. Today around 12:30 p.m., Rizwan Ashraf, 35 of North Brunswick, was arrested in the area of 700 Plaza Dr., Secaucus, officials said. At the time of his arrest, Ashraf’s vehicle was also seized.

Ashraf was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He was then taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny, pending his appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has any information regarding this incident or
Ashraf, they are asked to contact the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division at (201) 330-2052 or detectivedivision@secaucus.net.

All calls will be kept confidential.
