“These budget wins are a direct investment in our people, our schools, and our communities,” Sampson said in a statement.

“From our classrooms to our community centers, from small businesses to higher education, this funding will create opportunities and strengthen the quality of life for every resident of the 31st District. I am proud to fight for the resources our communities deserve.”

He added that his three top priorities, the Bayonne Public Schools, Liberty Science Center, and Bayonne Dry Dock all received at least $1 million (the Bayonne Board of Education received $1.25 million as he noted back in July).

In the case of LSC, the funding will go towards advancing STEM leaning opportunities, while Bayonne Dry Dock will use the state funds to support local workforce development.

Additionally, Sampson secured funding for several Jersey City-based nonprofits:

• JC Rising Tides – $1.5 million for youth leadership, workforce readiness, and community engagement programs.

• JC Sav’n Blocks – $50,000 to support financial literacy and community economic empowerment.

• JC Police Athletic League (PAL) – $50,000 for youth sports, mentoring, and after-school activities.

• JC Jump4Jerry – $50,000 to expand youth mental health and wellness programming.

• JC Garden State Equality / Extravaganza House – $400,000 to enhance advocacy, housing support, and community services for LGBTQ+ residents.

• JC Asian Merchant Association – $120,000 to strengthen small business resources and cultural programming.

Furthermore, the  Rutgers University Student Success Initiatives received $3.21 million to boost student retention, graduation rates, and career readiness, while $10 million was allocated towards the merger costs for Kean University and NJCU.
