“It is with deep regret and heavy heart to announce the loss of Saddle Brook Police Officer Norma B. Aedo. Officer Aedo was hospitalized for the past month in Hackensack University Medical Center and passed away Tuesday evening May 26th, 2020,” Saddle Brook police announced last night.

“Officer Aedo joined the Saddle Brook Police Department in March 2014 after previously serving as a Sheriff’s Officer for Hudson County Sheriff’s Office from 2007-2014. Norma was recently assigned as our Municipal Humane Law Enforcement Officer responsible for the investigation of animal cruelty and other matters involving pets and all animals within the Township of Saddle Brook.”

Aedo, a North Bergen police dispatcher between 2000 and 2002 – then again from 2005 until 2007, had been hospitalized since May 9th.

“She will be forever missed and loved by all who knew her,” Saddle Brooke Mayor Robert White told The Daily Voice, who first reported on her passing.

The North Bergen Police Department also offered their condolences.

“The North Bergen Police Department mourns the loss of our sister, Police Officer Norma Aedo, of the Saddle Brook Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Aedo.”
