Roque gets glowing endorsements from HCDO, but Wiley still predicting victory

West New York Mayor Felix Roque received overwhelming support from the Hudson County Democratic Organization at his re-election fundraiser last night – where he unveiled teacher Susan Colacurcio as his latest commissioner candidate – but at his own event, Commissioner Count Wiley vowed to defeat Roque on May 12.

At Las Palmas, Roque had the full support of the HCDO, with County Executive Tom DeGise, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and State Senator/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco (all District 32) offering glowing endorsements for the Cuban-born pain relief specialist.

Roque, also a colonel in the army, thanked the 300 something people in attendance for their support, before unveiling Memorial High School teacher Susan Colacurcio as the latest member of his re-election ticket.

Only Hudson County View reported Colacurcio’s addition to the Roque team prior to the event.

Various other officials such as Sheriff Frank Schillari, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, former West New York Mayor Sal Vega, Harrison Mayor James Fife and Freeholder Chairman E. Junior Maldonado were just a few of the HCDO staples who also came to show their support to Roque.

A few blocks away at Rumba Cubana, Wiley hosted a much smaller rendezvous and told Hudson County View he was feeling confident as ever: regardless who decides to back Roque’s re-election bid.
