A “roadway collapse” is causing multiple road closures on John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, multiple local public safety agencies said this afternoon.

“❗️Commuter Alert❗️Reports of a roadway collapse at JFK & Rt139 in JC has major road closures in that area. Commuters use alternate routes and allow for extra time. (12:55pm) @CityofBayonne @DavisForBayonne,” the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management tweeted.
“Reports of a roadway collapse at JFK & Rt139 in @JerseyCity have major road closures in that area. Please plan ahead if your commute is in that direction,” the Hoboken Police Department wrote on Twitter.
An emergency alert from the City of Jersey City said that the a wall collapse during a building demolition has led to the current predicament, with JFK Boulevard closed in both directions between Route 139 and St. Paul’s Avenue as a precaution.
School buses that take that route are expected to be delayed following dismissal, officials said.
