Francis J. Ciprian, 38, of West New York, was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and making terroristic threats, along with traffic summonses related to crashing his car, the website reported.

Ciprian allegedly shouted obscenities at officers after he crashed his car and gave authorities a hard time as he was arrested. At the police station, he is accused of throwing a punch at an officer as they removed a hand restraint to handcuff him to a bench.

“The officers showed a great deal of restraint. They dealt with him calmly for over a half hour. But he just wouldn’t stop,” said Little Ferry Police Chief James Walters.
