Prosecutor’s office seeking public’s help to locate Jersey City man charged in 2 shootings

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the public’s help to locate a Jersey City man charged in two different shootings, one of which was fatal.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Damien Morgan, 31, of Jersey City, in connection with the November 18th, 2019 murder of Davon Deloach. He has also been charged with attempted murder in a separate incident which occurred earlier that day, Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

As a result, Morgan has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, authorities said.

On November 18th, 2019, at approximately 10:25 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Fulton Avenue.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso near 39 Fulton Ave.

The victim, later identified as Deloach, 30, of Jersey City, was transported by Emergency
Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 a.m. on November 19th.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be a multiple gunshot wounds and the Manner of death to be homicide.

At the time of the incident, Morgan was identified as the man who suffered from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to one of his lower extremities during the incident. He was discovered on Van Cleef Street in Jersey City a short time after the shooting occurred.

Morgan was transported by EMS to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Morgan has also been charged in an unrelated shooting incident that occurred on November 18, 2019, at approximately 5:50 p.m., in the area of 13 Fulton Ave.

In connection to that incident, Morgan was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose  and unlawful possession of a weapon, officials said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating both cases.
