A 37-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl back in March, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Christopher Ortiz, 37, of West New York, is charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact, Suarez said in a statement.
He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
A 14-year-old juvenile reported that in the early morning hours of March 11, 2024, she was approached by an unknown man and she entered his vehicle. The female reported the defendant later sexually assaulted her inside his residence.
Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest. Anyone wishing to report a sex crime should call the HCPO Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.
