Yasir Harrison, 32, of Jersey City, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Suarez said in a statement.

Additionally, Jala Long, 21, of Jersey City, is charged with first-degree accomplice murder.

Long was arrested this afternoon at the South District Police Station on Bergen Avenue and Harrison was arrested at Bayview and Bergen Avenue, both without incident.

On Saturday, July 24th at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 94 Grant Ave.

Responding officers found a 26-year-old victim, later identified as Raquan Bass, who
had sustained gunshot wound(s) to his upper body and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for the investigation and arrest.

This morning, the HCPO revealed that Felicia Stewart, 30, was killed early this morning in the same area where Bass was killed.

Sources said that she was paying respect at a vigil for Bass when she was fatally shot, marking the third homicide in Jersey City since Saturday.
