Prosecutor: Secaucus DPW employee arrested for ‘multiple sexual crimes’ against underage girl

A Secaucus Department of Public Works employee was arrested for “multiple sexual crimes” against an underage girl that date back to approximately six or seven years ago, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Today at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s
Office Special Victims Unit and the Secaucus Police Department arrested Victor Rodriguez,
46, of Secaucus, on charges involving multiple sexual crimes against a juvenile female victim, Suarez said in a statement.

On Tuesday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims
Unit were notified by the Secaucus Police Department about the alleged crimes which occurred on multiple dates approximately six to seven years ago.

The defendant was known to the victim and the victim’s family.

Rodriguez, who is employed by the Secaucus Department of Public Works, was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City without incident following an investigation.

He has been charged with two counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact.

The victim was between the ages of 12 and 13 years old when the crimes allegedly occurred.

After his arrest, Rodriguez was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the
Secaucus Police Department with the investigation and arrest.

The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. A hearing is currently scheduled for Thursday, July 8th.
