A New York man, 21, has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he met through social media, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, members of the HCPO Special Victims Unit and the Freeport Police apprehended and arrested Cecilio Viera-Viera, 21, of Freeport, New York, on charges that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl he met through social media, Suarez said in a statement.
Viera-Viera has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact, luring and enticing, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He met the victim on social media and lured her through conversations and interactions
to meet him in person on June 4th in Jersey City, at which time he lured her into his vehicle and sexually assaulted her.
Viera-Viera was arrested at his home in Freeport, New York just after 5 p.m. without incident.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, the
Jersey City Police Department, and the Freeport Police Department for the investigation and arrest.
